Who we are?
Rabino Jacques Cukierkorn
Brit Braja worldwide Jewish Outreach (BBWJO) is the first Virtual Synagogue in Spanish in the world. As a nonprofit organization (501c3), it is dedicated to solving one of the greatest problems of modern Judaism: We are disappearing! Low birth rates, assimilation, interfaith marriages, low synagogue affiliation rates and apathy are taking a serious toll on our numbers.
At the same time there are hundreds, if not thousands, of people around the world that desperately want to be Jewish or return to Judaism but are denied that opportunity.
In Latin America alone there are as many as 30 million people that are descendants of Marranos/Anussim/Crypto-Jews; Jews that were forced to convert to Christianity in the Iberian Peninsula in the 15th century, yet that have retained some Jewish practices or memories.
Many of these people yearn to return to Judaism but due to the scarce presence of Jews in Latin America or due to the insular nature of the local Jewish communities, are denied the opportunity.
Being a Jew is a global endeavor. We Jews are responsible for each other everywhere we are. Brit Braja leverages the influence and economic strength of the North American Jewish community to promote Jewish life and growth internationally.
